MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN


Sat outside the Charmley Arms formerly known as Henry Africa’s if you are as old as me in the summer of 2005 two very important decisions where made.

Decision one was to order two mixed grills (it was buy one get one fee) and the other was to set up a supporters club.
Marc Wroe and myself shook hands and North West Villa was in the making.

Following a couple of meetings with the marketing department at Villa Park we explained the idea to a few people and prior to the game against Blackburn Rovers on the 25th August 2005 in the car park of the Aston Hotel North West Villa was formed.
For the home game against Fulham that season we arranged our first transport to Villa Park and then later on in the season We arranged our first away trip to Middlesbrough.

We now run transport to every home premier league game and certain away and cup games.
Also car shares and ticket exchanges and meets for TV games are also arranged via the website.
It has also been nice to see members arranging trips abroad in the cup competitions.
North West Villa was represented last season in the Prague, Hamburg, and Moscow.
The 2007-08 season saw North West Villa being voted most improved supporters club in the Lions Club network and we topped this the following season by claiming the award for The Lions Club National Supporters Club Of The Year 2008-09. I was also honoured to receive the George Ramsey Trophy for Clubman Of The Year.

This is know our 3rd website and again like the previous one I must thank Gary Mawhinney for all his hard work in creating it. Gary does this as he says for the love of the club and never wants rewarding for his work.
So it was pleasing recently when Gary was approached by Aston Villa to build the new Lions Club website which is now live.
